Descent is one thread. Real work forks. A deep level yields enough to develop on its own, so it gets handed to a sibling conversation, and now something has to hold the map: what was forked, what each sibling owes, when the results merge.
That holding is its own cognitive mode, wide and shallow where the deep work is narrow. This concept is young. What exists so far is a list of the orchestrator’s jobs and the strong suspicion it deserves more than a section in someone else’s essay.
